My name is Ethan McGuire, and I am an aspiring football coach. I have wanted to work in football all of my life; my dad was a high school coach, so I grew up around football, attending practices and games as long as I can remember. I played football through high school, starting at quarterback my senior year until suffering a season-ending injury to my throwing shoulder.

Upon graduation from high school, I had the opportunity to work as a student-assistant coach for Michigan State. I knew this was a great opportunity to get into the world of coaching, so I took the job. I worked for five seasons in this role, winning two Big Ten championships, a Rose Bowl, a Cotton Bowl, and making it into the College Football Playoff.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, I was hired on at Michigan State as a recruiting assistant. I gained a great deal of experience evaluating prospects and projecting their abilities to the collegiate level. Additionally, I gained experience communicating with recruits, showing them why Michigan State would be a great choice for their future.

After one season as a recruiting assistant, a graduate assistant coach position opened up at MSU, and I was moved into that role. Although recruiting was a great experience for me, I knew that I wanted to get back into the coaching side of things. I have completed three seasons as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Football has always been my passion. Although this job keeps me busy, often working over one hundred hours per week, I enjoy working out in my free time. I also like reading, playing video games, and going out with friends. I am the second oldest of four children, but am the only boy in the family. I am from Moline, IL, but have lived in East Lansing for the past nine years.
